School District Leadership for a Changing America
Our mission is to educate, encourage and empower children, youth, and families to pursue equality, social and economic justice through provocative dialogue and collective action.
We believe this can be accomplished by facilitating collaborative efforts; cultivating meaningful relationships with community and faith-based partners, government leadership and agencies, business, and the community-at-large; and providing educational programs that will help participants celebrate the richness of their cultural history and meet the challenges in their lives.
We are dedicated to facilitating increased engagement and activism in the Prince George’s County Public Schools and around the world. Through blogging, social media, and face-to-face meetings, we provide parents, students and teachers the information and support they need to become advocates for positive change in the school systems in the United States and globally.
What started with a few activists and neighborhood parents has expanded into a diverse group of current and former teachers, parents, and concerned citizens from across the country and the world. We are an independent, all-volunteer organization with no financial ties to any organization, elected official, or political candidates.
Though we do give parents support and information, we do not give legal advice or get involved with personnel decisions (i.e. hiring and firing).
